We left our slip in Alameda at 9am and after some motoring, followed by a great beam reach, arrived in Benecia at about 3pm! For those of you who don't know the area, we had anticipated arriving around 5pm. There were 16 Islanders there that night. We had a potluck supper at the Yacht club, followed by fireworks and patriotic, though somewhat off-key, singing. The next day, 2 boats departed and another 2 showed up. Friday, we strolled through Benecia, looking at a glassblower's shop, Lindsay Art Glass, and we ordered Islander 36 hats and shirts from The Embroidery Factory. That night there was a wonderful meal at the Benecia Yacht Club. We left Benecia the following morning and after some pretty hairy 25-30kt wind, were home by 4pm. If you haven't visited Benecia, I recommend the old town. Lots of character.
